Of course - some watches are much better at these than others, but it's important to think about why these features were/are paramount to the success of modern-day smartwatches.
A battery life that lasts days (not hours) and a watch that doesn't need to worry about being wet (be it while washing hands or walking in the rain) - can stay on your wrist for a lot longer.
Even if you're not an active person, these 2 features basically minimize the reasons you need to take your watch off. And the longer you wear your watch, the more likely you are to use its features, see it's benefits, like the watch, etc. etc.
