My personal motivation to "retake" this class in my free time --> understanding "how" the future of our world works behind the scenes, rather than being a blind consumer of "black box magic".
At LinkedIn, I saw how tech experiments were run / how 'people you may know' algorithms worked / how social feed was iterated on. So today when I see changes to my Twitter or DoorDash or Spotify app, I'm able to have a decent perspective on what the team behind it is optimizing for, metrics they're trying to move, and their motivations.
I've been lucky to NOT be a totally "blind consumer" of tech, and I don't want that to change overnight.
